5 Possible directions?

This project aims to investigate the potential benefits for nanotechnology influenced by AI growth. Both of these technologies are part of the NBIC Technologies, which define our contemporary era. Their interactions contribute to the exponential complexity in the technological world under various circumstances. On one hand, nanotechnology, dealing with materials at a fundamental level, is responsible for the hardware advancements needed to create more refined platforms for AI to exist. This includes new transistor designs, possible circuit connections, and new materials.

However, how does AI impact nanotechnology at its core?

Following the theme of Biennale Tecnologia 2024, this project outlines five different development directions that could emerge in the near future:

AI-generated molecules, nanostructures, and materials // AI models for predicting new materials' behavior and dynamics // AI-enhanced video generation of dynamic phenomena with SEM and EDX // AI's impact on nano production processes // AI-directed design and integration of nano application devices

This project was part of the exhibition “Utopie Realiste organised by PARATISSIMA during the Biennale Tecnologia 2024 at the Politecnico di Torino, Italy (18 April - 18 May 2024). The exhibition featured a series of AI-generated images curated by Catherine Gipton, an AI curator.
